Procchio beach and its amenities
The main beach is the long expanse of very fine golden sand sheltered by the lovely gulf of Procchio, with every amenity and equipped for every kind of bathing and sporting activity.
It is easily accessed by walking round the corner from the hotel and taking an 80 metre stroll along a pine-shaded avenue, the famous "Via del Mare", which leads straight to the beach.
A wooden walkway parallel to the sea that starts from the main beach leads within a few minutes to the Campo all'Aia and Guardiola beaches, which also have full amenities.
At 1400 metres long, Procchio beach is one of the island of Elba's chief sandy beaches and it is the largest on the northern coast, as well as one of the island's most famous destinations. It gives a view of marvellous sunsets with unforgettable colours.
There are many amenities on the beach: a large number of beach clubs, lifeguard service, disabled services, motorboat, pedal-boat, sailing-boat, kayak and canoe hire, diving and windsurf schools, and anchorages and mooring buoys for motor yachts.
Gym enthusiasts will find one at the end of the road that leads to the beach, less than 100 metres from the hotel.
At the far end of the town of Procchio, towards Marciana Marina, there are splendid coves semi-concealed between lentisk and rosemary, wonderful places to soak up the sun and revel in a sea which is always blue and crystal clear; the "Paolina's island", with its Napoleonic associations, is also within reach.
